Rubén Alberto Curiel Tejeda found dead in Puebla government complex
Rubén Alberto Curiel Tejeda, the General Legal Coordinator for the Secretariat of Anticorruption and Good Government in Puebla, was found dead on Friday, September 25, 2026. His body was located inside a vehicle in the third basement parking level of the Centro Integral de Servicios (CIS) Angelópolis.
Preliminary investigations by the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) of Puebla indicate that the death may have been self-inflicted due to a gunshot wound. However, authorities have stated that the investigation remains open to fully clarify the circumstances and will not be concluded until all forensic protocols are completed.
Curiel Tejeda had a significant career in the state's justice system, having previously served as the head of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Combating Corruption (FECC). He was dismissed from that role in July 2026 following a performance review by the FGE.
