Irapuato‑Abasolo highway accident injures two men

A melaza‑laden tractor‑trailer lost control on the Irapuato‑Abasolo highway in Guanajuato, Mexico, breaching a safety barrier and crossing into oncoming traffic. It collided head‑on with a white Kia and a black pickup, causing severe damage to the private vehicles and immobilising the trailer on the road. Two men were treated for non‑life‑threatening injuries by municipal protection‑civil and fire‑fighter crews. The National Guard secured the scene and cleared the wreckage, leading to lengthy traffic delays. One driver recounted the moment, saying, "Yo venía de Irapuato hacia Abasolo cuando vi que el tráiler perdió el control, golpeó la barrera de contención y terminó cruzándose completamente al carril por donde circulábamos". Authorities launched an investigation, including the possibility that the truck driver fled the site.
