Iraq and Turkey establish direct channels for anti-corruption cooperation
Muhammed Ali Lami, head of Iraq’s Anti-Corruption Commission, has announced the establishment of direct communication and cooperation channels with Turkey to combat corruption.
During a meeting with Turkey’s Ambassador to Baghdad, Anıl Bora İnan, officials discussed mechanisms for tracking and recovering funds obtained through corrupt activities. The cooperation aims to address obstacles in apprehending wanted individuals and preventing the use of illicit funds in money laundering operations.
Lami emphasized that strengthening the rule of law and anti-corruption efforts is essential for creating a secure investment environment. He noted that Iraqi citizens maintain trust in Turkish companies, which could play a significant role in the country’s reconstruction and development projects.
