Iraq government denies hosting foreign armed groups

Iraqi government spokesperson Haider al-Aboudi has stated that Iraq will not allow its territory to be used as a base for threatening neighboring countries. Addressing reports regarding the presence of Ansar Allah bases in the country, al-Aboudi dismissed the claims as baseless social media narratives, asserting that no such registered headquarters exist within Iraq.

Al-Aboudi emphasized that the presence of armed groups affiliated with foreign nations contradicts the Iraqi constitution. He noted that Baghdad is coordinating with Turkey to address the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) issue and is working with Iran through a high-level committee to resolve the presence of Iranian Kurdish militants, particularly in the Kurdistan Region.

Regarding border operations, the spokesperson explained that the suspension of activities at the Al-Shayb border crossing was a technical measure intended to upgrade its logistical and technological readiness. He confirmed that trade with Iran continues smoothly through other existing border crossings.
