Iraq PM Ali al-Zaidi pledges to disarm militias by June 2027
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has announced an ambitious plan to disarm Iran-backed militias and integrate their members into state institutions by June 30, 2027. Al-Zaidi further accused Iran of blocking Iraqi oil tankers from passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a move he suggested aims to drive up global oil prices.
