Iraqi MP claims PMF head's summons is political targeting

MP Hayder al-Mahiawi, representing the Reconstruction and Development Bloc, has criticized efforts to summon Faleh al-Fayadh, the head of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), to the Iraqi Parliament. Al-Mahiawi characterized the summons as having clear political motives, alleging that certain factions, specifically mentioning Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, are attempting to exert control over the administrative and institutional structure of the PMF.

Al-Mahiawi further alleged procedural violations by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan, regarding the issuance of official communications. He argued that the authority to invite the Prime Minister or issue such formal summons rests exclusively with the Speaker of Parliament, not the First Deputy Speaker.

Additionally, the MP disputed claims regarding the Prime Minister's awareness of recent airstrikes, asserting that the Prime Minister was not notified of any such strikes. He also raised concerns regarding the formation of a fact-finding committee within the parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, claiming that the process for selecting members lacked proper representation and violated parliamentary regulations.
