Iraqi Parliament Speaker holds key security and economic talks in Erbil and Ankara
Iraqi Parliament Speaker Heybet Halbusi held high-level meetings in Erbil and Ankara to discuss regional security, economic cooperation, and internal Iraqi stability.
In Erbil, Halbusi met with Kurdistan Region President Neçirvan Barzani. The discussions focused on the inseparable link between the security of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Key topics included the necessity of keeping weapons under state control through dialogue and resolving budget and constitutional issues between Erbil and Baghdad. Barzani reaffirmed support for the Iraqi federal government and the Prime Minister.
In Ankara, Halbusi met with Turkish Intelligence Organization (MİT) Chief İbrahim Kalın. The meeting addressed strengthening security cooperation and regional stability. Economic and strategic projects were also discussed, including the Development Road Project, water infrastructure rehabilitation, and agricultural initiatives. Halbusi expressed support for Turkey’s efforts toward a terrorism-free environment, noting that its success would benefit the entire region.
