Iraqi PM assures Saudi Crown Prince of regional security commitment
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh to discuss regional security and economic cooperation. During the visit, al-Zaidi assured the Crown Prince that Iraqi territory will not be used as a launching pad for attacks against Saudi Arabia or other regional nations.
The commitment follows recent tensions, including a drone strike on Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline that Riyadh identified as originating from Iraqi territory. Al-Zaidi emphasized Iraq’s intention to adhere to principles of good neighborliness and respect the sovereignty of neighboring countries.
The high-level talks aimed to strengthen security coordination and promote stability amid heightened regional tensions. Both leaders expressed a shared interest in converting geopolitical interests into a long-term partnership to address regional threats.
