Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al‑Zaydi visited the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) on Wednesday, meeting its leadership and promising assistance to families of the martyrs and full medical care for the wounded, including possible treatment abroad.
He condemned what he described as a Saudi‑American attack on PMF sites that earlier that morning resulted in at least eight deaths and four injuries among PMF members across several provinces, including Nineveh. The Iraqi National Security Council convened an emergency meeting to assess the security situation and coordinate a response.
The strikes, part of a joint U.S.–Saudi operation referred to as “SankTom,” targeted locations in Basra, Babil, Karbala and Nineveh linked to Iran‑aligned militias.
