Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on the sidelines of an Arab ministerial meeting in Amman. The two sides discussed the upcoming visit of an Iraqi security delegation to Saudi Arabia, reaffirmed Saudi support for Iraq’s government, and examined regional security issues affecting oil export routes and energy supply.
Hussein also held separate meetings with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, as well as a trilateral session with the Egyptian and Jordanian counterparts. The discussions focused on joint energy projects, notably the Basra‑Aqaba Oil Pipeline and its extension to the Red Sea, electricity interconnection with Jordan, and the activation of a trilateral cooperation mechanism to oversee ongoing economic, industrial and energy initiatives. All parties stressed the importance of securing the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring freedom of navigation for regional stability.
