Iraquara City Council election annulled over unconstitutional third term

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Bahia (MP) has recommended that the recent election of the Mesa Diretora of the municipal council of Iraquara be annulled. The body found that the vote kept Suede de Jesus Neves Filho (PCdoB) in the council presidency for a third consecutive bi‑annual term, which conflicts with the Supreme Federal Court (STF) interpretation that only one immediate re‑election is permissible.

The recommendation, signed by prosecutor Lucas Peixoto Valente, orders a new election within five business days and restricts candidacies to councilors who have not served as president in the two preceding terms.
