IRCC index to rise slightly for final quarter of 2026
The IRCC index, used to calculate variable interest rates for most new personal loans in Romania, will rise slightly to 5.57% for the October-December 2026 quarter. This value is based on the average daily index from April to June 2026.
The impact on monthly mortgage payments is expected to be minimal. For a 300,000 lei mortgage, the monthly installment is projected to increase by approximately 2 lei. Despite a downward trend in annual inflation throughout the summer of 2026, the IRCC reflects interbank rates from earlier in the year due to a six-month lag in application.
Looking ahead, estimates suggest a potential slight increase to around 5.59% for the first quarter of 2027. Financial experts note that while the change in the IRCC itself is marginal, the gap between variable interest rates and fixed-rate offers can still result in differences of several hundred lei per month.
