Ireland allocates millions for town regeneration projects

Ireland has announced significant funding allocations through the €409 million Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund to support various urban renewal projects across the country.

In Donegal, €14.7 million has been secured for four regeneration initiatives in Letterkenny. This includes €9 million for the Letterkenny Transport Hub, €5.4 million for the Letterkenny Cultural Corridor, and €300,000 split between the LK Green Connect Phase 2 and the ‘Into Letterkenny’ project. Local representatives noted the investment aims to revitalize community infrastructure and address long-standing vacancy and underinvestment.

In Laois, €7.65 million has been allocated to projects in Portlaoise and Portarlington. The majority of this, €7.5 million, is designated for the Fort Museum and Event Centre in Portlaoise. An additional €150,000 will support the design phase of the Portarlington Town Centre Regeneration project. These investments are part of a national effort to combat dereliction and develop civic infrastructure in town and city centers.
