Ireland and EU announce new funding and policy frameworks

Ireland has announced the launch of the Arts Capital Investment Fund, a €6 million pilot scheme designed to support the nation’s arts and culture sector. The initiative aims to assist not-for-profit organisations, community groups, and cultural facilities with building improvements, equipment purchases, and enhancing public access. Applications are scheduled to open on 1 October 2026 and will close on 18 December 2026.

The fund is divided into three categories: equipment for arts organisations, construction and refurbishment works, and equipment for community groups to increase artistic participation. Funding can be utilized for climate action, health and safety, and universal access improvements.

In the European Union, fisheries ministers have reached a partial agreement on the legislative framework for the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) for the 2028-2034 period. This framework will guide support for the fishing and aquaculture sectors, focusing on balancing competitiveness and modernization with environmental sustainability and international obligations. While the general orientation has been established, the specific economic allocation remains subject to future European budget negotiations.
