Ireland celebrates National Heritage Week with regional events

National Heritage Week features various celebratory and educational events across Ireland, focusing on the theme ‘Heritage at Risk’.

In Donegal, over 150 events are scheduled from August 15th to August 23rd. The program, organized by the Culture Division of Donegal County Council, includes guided walks, workshops, exhibitions, biodiversity events, and historical re-enactments. County Heritage Officer Joseph Gallagher emphasized the importance of protecting heritage to support local well-being, employment, and the tourism industry.

In Dublin, the Green Foundation Ireland and the River Basin Management Service are hosting ‘A Celebration of the Camac’ at the Irish Museum of Modern Art. The event, scheduled for August 22, 2026, aims to bring together those interested in protecting the River Camac through music, poetry, and short talks.
