Ireland experiences shootings in Galway and Dublin
A man in his 20s suffered a serious eye injury after a gunman entered an apartment in Dunlo, Ballinasloe, County Galway, and opened fire through a bedroom door at about 3:15 a.m. on 3 August 2026. The victim was taken to University Hospital Galway with non‑life‑threatening injuries. Garda Síochána are conducting door‑to‑door enquiries and seeking CCTV footage to identify the shooter.
Two days later, a man in his 40s was shot at while in a vehicle in St Killian’s Park, Clondalkin, Dublin, at around 8:55 p.m. on 4 August 2026. He was rushed to Tallaght University Hospital with non‑life‑threatening injuries. Garda Síochána are preserving the scene for technical examination and also appealing for witnesses and dash‑cam footage.
