Ireland faces heavy rain and flooding risks this winter
Met Éireann has issued long-range warnings for Ireland, suggesting a difficult start to the winter season due to exceptionally wet conditions. The forecast indicates that November is likely to see well above average rainfall, with the southern part of the country expected to face the brunt of this precipitation. This increased rainfall may lead to waterlogged terrain and a heightened risk of flooding in certain areas.
While temperatures for October, November, and December are projected to remain slightly milder than usual—approximately 0.5°C to 1°C above seasonal norms—the forecaster noted that colder conditions and wintry hazards remain possible.
In the immediate short-term, the weather is expected to be a mix of wet and breezy conditions with scattered showers and sunny spells. High pressure is anticipated to move in over the coming days, bringing more settled weather and temperatures ranging in the mid to high teens.
