Ireland fatal crash: Five teenagers die driving stolen BMW

Five teenagers, aged between 15 and 18, died in a fatal car accident in County Kildare, Ireland, after driving a stolen BMW in the wrong direction on the M9 motorway. The group was reportedly filming content for social media platforms like TikTok while driving.

The stolen vehicle collided with a Hyundai traveling in the opposite direction. Four members of the family in the Hyundai sustained serious injuries. The victims in the BMW have been identified as Joe Carthy (15), Kamil Pustkowski (17), Jack Kennedy (17), Alex McCarthy (17), and Jeremy O’Brien (18).

The incident has ignited intense public debate regarding the influence of social media trends and the responsibility of platforms like TikTok. TikTok has declined an invitation to appear before the Irish parliamentary media committee, a decision that Alan Kelly, the committee chairman, described as a ‘slap in the face’ to the Irish public.
