Ireland Live Register rises by 3.4% year-on-year

Ireland’s Live Register increased by 3.4% year-on-year in July, reaching an unadjusted total of 191,880 people receiving unemployment or certain employment supports. This represents an increase of 6,253 people compared to July 2025.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the total rose by 1,200 people from June to reach 174,500. The largest demographic group on the register is individuals aged 25 to 34, who account for 24.5% of the total. Men make up 52.2% of those registered, while 73.4% are Irish nationals.

Data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) shows that 71.5% of those on the register have been there for less than one year, an increase of 7,756 people over the past 12 months. Conversely, the number of people on the register for one year or more decreased by 2.7% to 54,777. The figures also include 11,488 people benefiting from the EU’s Temporary Protection Directive.
