Ireland local authorities launch community safety initiatives

Local authorities in Ireland are initiating community engagement efforts to address public safety and policing. In Dublin, residents of Sandyford and Stepaside are invited to a Local Policing Forum meeting on October 20, 2026. The event, held at Ballyogan Parish Hall, will allow the public to discuss safety concerns, report issues, and receive updates directly from An Garda Síochána’s Community Policing Team.

In County Donegal, the Local Community Safety Partnership is launching a public consultation to inform the development of the Donegal Local Community Safety Action Plan for 2027–2030. Funded by the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, the initiative seeks to gather public views on both recorded crime and the subjective experiences of fear or insecurity to foster collaborative safety efforts between state agencies and the community.
