Ireland named Guest of Honor for Tocatì Festival in Verona

Ireland has been named the Guest of Honor for the 24th edition of Tocatì, the International Street Games Festival, taking place in the Veronetta district of Verona from September 18 to 20. The event features over one hundred activities designed to showcase traditional games and sports as living cultural expressions.

In partnership with the Consulate General of Ireland, Tourism Ireland, and Gaelic Games Europe, the festival will highlight Irish identity through music, dance, and traditional sports. Key attractions include Gaelic Football and Hurling—the latter of which is recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage. Other featured activities include Camogie, Rounders, and Handball.

Beyond sports, the program includes workshops and meetings focused on Irish gastronomy, sustainable tourism, and contemporary storytelling. These sessions aim to explore the connection between local communities, territory, and cultural heritage.
