Ireland sees major regional development via TUS and Shannon projects
Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) has launched a €750 million Masterplan to develop its campuses in Athlone, Limerick, Thurles, Clonmel, and Ennis through 2040. The framework aims to drive regional economic growth and support rising demand for higher education through the construction of academic buildings, student facilities, and research collaboration areas. Key projects include the development of the City North Sports Park and the transformation of the Cleeves campus site.
In a separate regional development move, Shannon Gateway Projects has acquired a 20-acre town centre site in Shannon. The Shannon Chamber has described the acquisition as potentially transformational for the town, noting that Grafton Architects has been appointed to lead the masterplanning process. The project aims to enhance Shannon’s appeal as a place to live and work, moving beyond its reputation as a purely industrial and employment hub.
