Ireland wins gold in women's double sculls at World Rowing Championships

Margaret Cremen and Zoe Hyde won the gold medal in the women's double sculls at the World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam. After a competitive race where they trailed the Netherlands at the 500m and 1500m marks, the Irish duo surged ahead in the final 300m to secure the victory. The Netherlands took silver, while Switzerland earned the bronze.

Other Irish crews also competed in Amsterdam. The Men’s Four, a new combination consisting of McQuillan-Tolan, Doran, Murphy, and Dorney, finished second in the C Final with a time of 6:09.62. In the women's categories, the Women’s Four narrowly missed the A Final by 3.25 seconds, and the Women’s Quadruple Sculls finished fourth in their semi-final, missing the final qualifying position by 1.51 seconds.
