Ireland's HIQA Finds Broad Compliance in Disability Care Centres

An unannounced HIQA inspection at Brookvale House in Monaghan confirmed the residential centre for adults with intellectual disabilities complied with all 16 sections of the Health Act 2007, providing 24‑hour care and receiving praise for governance and a homely environment.

On 24 July 2026 the Health Information and Quality Authority published 23 inspection reports covering a range of Irish disability service providers, including Lotus Care, MyLife by Estrela Hall, Nua Healthcare and others. Inspectors highlighted good practice such as resident employment, participation in education, family visits, overseas holidays and cultural activities. Several providers were asked to implement improvement plans addressing staffing supervision and fire safety.

Overall, the reports show that many Irish disability centres meet regulatory standards while also identifying areas for targeted enhancements.
