IREN appoints Ángel Corcóstegui to lead European board
IREN has appointed Ángel Corcóstegui as the chairman of the board for IREN Europe, a newly formed entity designed to consolidate the company's continental operations. Roberto Purcaro has been named CEO for Europe and will join the new governing body.
This leadership restructuring follows IREN's entry into the European market through the acquisition of the Spanish data center developer Nostrum Group. The company views Spain as a critical market for its European activities, citing the country's connectivity and renewable energy availability as ideal for artificial intelligence digital infrastructure. IREN's first European project is located in Badajoz.
Corcóstegui brings extensive financial and corporate experience, having previously served as first vice president and CEO of Banco Santander. Purcaro joins with over 25 years of international experience in digital infrastructure and energy transition, formerly holding leadership roles at Macquarie Capital.
