Irena Radović discusses financial stability in Vienna

Irena Radović, Governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro, addressed the challenges of maintaining financial stability at a conference in Vienna. The event, organized by the Austrian National Bank and other institutions, focused on the implications of digital finance and artificial intelligence for central banks.

Radović noted that domestic reforms and Montenegro’s EU accession process, combined with favorable international conditions, have strengthened the country's institutions and financial system resilience. She identified the interplay between external shocks and domestic vulnerabilities as a primary challenge for the upcoming period.

Key areas requiring careful monitoring include accelerated credit growth, rising real estate prices, energy costs, and changes in tourism. Radović also highlighted the potential for non-banking financing to expand capital sources, while emphasizing the need to manage cross-border risks and the concentration of investments in major financial centers.
