Irena Santor reveals vision impairment prevents traditional reading

Polish singer Irena Santor has shared updates regarding her health and its impact on her personal habits. During an author meeting promoting a new book by Jolanta Kwaśniewska and Jakub B. Bączek, the veteran vocalist revealed that she can no longer engage in traditional reading due to a severe vision impairment.

To maintain her lifelong passion for literature, Santor explained that she now utilizes a device known as a ‘czytak’ (a reading aid for audiobooks or podcasts) to listen to stories interpreted by narrators and actors. Reflecting on her past, she noted that reading was a vital source of knowledge during her youth and identified ‘Stara baśń’ by Józef Ignacy Kraszewski as a particularly influential work from her early years.
