Irene Mihalic urges tighter GTAZ rules for handling dangerous persons

Irene Mihalic, parliamentary manager of the German Green Party, called for legally binding regulations governing the treatment of "Gefährder" (dangerous persons) within the Joint Terror Countermeasure Center (GTAZ) of the federal and state governments. She made the demand after a special session of the Bundestag interior committee, citing the July 25 attack at Berlin's Christopher Street Day parade in which Abdul Ballout killed a woman and injured 31 others.

Mihalic also referenced the 2016 Berlin Breitscheidplatz attack by Anis Amri, arguing that clearer procedural rules would ensure that information about threat assessments is consistently shared and that courts receive the necessary risk evaluations. The proposal seeks to make the flow of intelligence and the basis for security decisions transparent and enforceable.
