IRGC hails US withdrawal from Iraq as victory for sovereignty

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement regarding the withdrawal of United States forces from Iraq, characterizing the move as a victory for the Iraqi people and their struggle for independence.

The IRGC described the withdrawal as a result of the steadfastness of the Iraqi nation rather than negotiations or concessions. The statement honored the memory of resistance fighters, specifically mentioning Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, suggesting that the departure of US forces is a step toward fulfilling the demand for justice for these individuals.

The IRGC further asserted that the US presence in West Asia caused instability, terrorism, and insecurity rather than providing safety. The statement noted that after two decades of intervention, involving approximately 5,000 US casualties and 4 trillion dollars in costs, the US has been forced to retreat, leaving security management to the local populations.
