Iran marks Sacred Defense Week with emphasis on ongoing national security
During commemorations for Sacred Defense Week in Iran, military and Basij officials emphasized the ongoing nature of national defense against evolving global threats.
Colonel Mehdi Mohammadpour, commander of the 281st Armored Brigade, stated that while the specific era of the eight-year war has passed, the methods of confrontation with enemies have changed, requiring continued vigilance and readiness from the armed forces. He highlighted that faith and patriotism, rather than just military equipment, were the decisive factors in past conflicts.
Hossein Taeb, head of the Basij Organization, spoke at an event unveiling a collection of books titled ‘People’s Narrative of the Sacred Defense.’ Taeb discussed Iran’s historical geopolitical stance, noting that the nation seeks to remain independent of both Eastern and Western power blocs. He characterized past conflicts as efforts by superpowers to control regional resources and security, asserting that Iran continues to pursue a strategy based on its own religious and national values.
