iri to perform opening theme for anime Hotaru no Yomeiri

Japanese artist iri has announced her first anime tie-up with the song ‘Period’, which will serve as the opening theme for the TV anime ‘Hotaru no Yomeiri’. The anime, based on the manga by Oreko Tachibana, is scheduled to begin broadcasting on Fuji TV’s ‘Noitamina’ block on October 9, 2026.

In response to the announcement, iri expressed that the song was inspired by the protagonist Satoko’s determination to stand firm despite harsh realities. The single ‘Period’ is set for release on November 18 in two formats: a complete limited edition including a Blu-ray of her 10th-anniversary live performance, and a limited period edition.

The original manga has surpassed 5 million copies in circulation and previously won the ‘Electronic Comic Grand Prize 2024’.
