Irig protest coordinator faces allegations of state fund misuse
Allegations have surfaced regarding potential conflicts of interest and misuse of state funds involving political activists in Irig, Serbia. Reports suggest that the hospitality venue ‘Čedino ćoše’, which serves as a base for local protest coordinators, may have been equipped using state subsidies for tourism development.
The establishment is reportedly owned by the maternal grandmother of Čeda Aleksić, a student and protest coordinator. Investigations point to a potential connection involving Aleksić’s father, Ljubomir Aleksić, who was employed at the Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism during the period when the subsidies were granted.
The reports also highlight the political background of the family, noting that Čeda Aleksić’s mother, Jelena Aleksić, is a professor and former member of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP) who has been active in recent protests.
