Iris channel to broadcast historical films in August

The television channel Iris is scheduled to broadcast two historical films in late August 2026.

On Sunday, August 23, the channel will air ‘Il cavaliere di Lagardere’ (Le Bossu), a 1997 film directed by Philippe de Broca. Starring Daniel Auteuil and Fabrice Luchini, the movie is an adaptation of Paul Féval’s novel. Set in 1700s Paris, it follows the adventures of Henri Lagardère, a skilled swordsman who becomes involved in the life of the Duke of Nevers.

On Monday, August 24, the channel will broadcast ‘La signora dello zoo di Varsavia’ (The Zookeeper’s Wife). Directed by Niki Caroe and starring Jessica Chastain, this 2017 film is based on the true story of Antonina and Jan Żabiński. During the invasion of Poland in 1939, the couple used the Warsaw Zoo to hide hundreds of Jews from the Nazi occupation by concealing them in animal cages and cellars.
