Irish Ministers travel to New York for United Nations High-Level Week

Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Helen McEntee and Minister of State for International Development Neale Richmond are traveling to New York to attend the United Nations High-Level Week.

McEntee intends to address critical global issues, including the conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East, and Sudan. Her agenda includes co-hosting an event with the Malala Fund to highlight the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan, laying a wreath at the 9/11 Memorial, and participating in business and trade meetings. She will also emphasize Ireland’s commitment to the international legal order and multilateralism.

Richmond’s visit will focus on international development and humanitarian action. The diplomatic mission also serves as part of Ireland’s efforts to seek election to the Human Rights Council for the 2027-2029 term, with a focus on championing gender equality and human rights.
