Irish music series and new Clare-based commissions announced

The Castleconnell Autumn Concert Series has announced its 2026 programme, which features a variety of classical and contemporary performances at All Saints Church in Castleconnell. The season includes performances by the Limerick Wind Ensemble, the duo Aoife Ní Bhriain and Cormac McCarthy, and Musici Ireland. The series is scheduled to conclude on November 24 with a performance by the Gealán Quartet.

In County Clare, Age & Opportunity and Clare County Council have launched a €15,000 music commission for musicians aged 50 and over. The successful applicant will create an original work to premiere at the Bealtaine Flagship Festival 2027 in Ennis. This initiative is part of Clare's role as the Regional Hub for the festival, which celebrates arts and ageing.
