Irish musical collectives Trá Pháidín and Liffey Light Orchestra announce new releases
Several Irish musical collectives have announced or released new projects blending traditional elements with modern genres.
Galway-based collective Trá Pháidín has released their second album, Cloch’s Claí, via the World of Echo label. The ten-track project explores themes of Irish identity and language through a mix of traditional Irish music, free jazz, drone, and spoken-word satire. The album is conceptually inspired by rural Irish stone-wall constructions and the satirical works of Myles na gCopaleen.
Dublin-based Liffey Light Orchestra has announced their fifth studio album, Ana Livia, scheduled for release on November 1 via Legal Records. The album features two suites of interconnected pieces titled ‘Ana Livia’ and ‘Poulaphouca’. The group, which originated from the Dublin University Players at Trinity College Dublin, continues to blend Irish traditional, folk, and progressive rock influences.
