Bratislava hospital: Irish national detained after attacking medical staff
A 34-year-old Irish man, identified as E. M. D., has been placed in custody following a violent attack on medical personnel at the Ružinov hospital in Bratislava. The incident occurred in the central intake waiting area after staff members requested that the man move from a seat to undergo a medical examination.
The assault resulted in injuries to two staff members: one sustained a broken nose, while another suffered injuries to their upper limbs. The suspect faces charges of rioting combined with causing bodily harm to a protected person. Prosecutors requested detention on the grounds of preventing flight and further criminal activity.
This incident follows another assault at a Bratislava hospital on October 13, where a 63-year-old Austrian national attacked a nurse at the Kramáre hospital. Authorities have noted a recent increase in physical aggression directed at healthcare workers in the region.
