Irish Open rescheduled to July 2027
The 2027 Irish Open will be moved to an early summer date, taking place from July 1–4 at the K Club in County Kildare. This scheduling shift is intended to accommodate the Ryder Cup, which is set to be hosted at Adare Manor in September 2027.
The new timing places the tournament within a dense period of the golfing calendar, occurring between the US Open and the Open Championship at St Andrews. While some analysts suggest the July date could serve as an ideal preparation window for the final major of the season, Rory McIlroy has expressed concerns that the congested schedule might hinder the event's ability to attract a star-studded field.
The tournament will also serve as the opening event of the DP World Tour’s new ‘Closing Swing’ series. Defending champion Shane Lowry, who recently won at Doonbeg by a record 11 strokes, is expected to compete in the 2027 edition.
