iRobot unveils Roomba Duo concept vacuum with deployable mini-robot

iRobot has unveiled a concept robot vacuum called the Roomba Duo at IFA. The device features a large base unit designed for heavy-duty cleaning and steam cleaning, which can house a smaller companion robot in a top compartment.

During demonstrations, the main unit performed tasks such as vacuuming and steam cleaning large messes. It then utilized a mechanical arm to deploy the smaller unit, identified as the Roomba Plus 575 Combo, to navigate tight spaces like the area under a sofa.

According to company representatives, the Roomba Duo is currently a concept intended to gauge market response and demonstrate the potential future of robotic floor cleaning. There are currently no plans to bring the Duo to market.
