Široki Brijeg and Šumber host large Catholic pilgrimages

In Široki Brijeg, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the annual nine‑day devotion to Our Lady of the Great Virgin began with thousands of pilgrims gathering for confession and nightly Masses. The opening ceremony featured Fra Ljubo Kurtović leading the outdoor liturgy and a choir performance, underscoring the event’s importance for local faithful and diaspora visitors.

Meanwhile, in Šumber, Croatia, the fifth Angošt celebration for Our Lady of Snow attracted crowds from across the Labin region. The festivities included a solemn Mass led by vicar Josip Kolega, a procession, live music by Night Express and Ritmo, and a traditional feast of ćevapi, cheese, and prosciutto.
