Široki Brijeg confirmation scheduled in two sessions

Bishop Petar Palić has established new dates for the sacrament of confirmation in Široki Brijeg, which will be held in two separate sessions this year. According to reports, the first session on April 24 is for first-year high school students, while the second session on June 5 is scheduled for ninth-grade elementary school students.

To assist families with siblings undergoing preparation, the church will allow brothers and sisters to receive the sacrament during the same session. This arrangement aims to simplify family obligations and participation in celebrations.

These changes are part of a broader transition within the Mostar-Duvno and Trebinje-Mrkan dioceses. A new two-year preparation program is being introduced, beginning in the eighth grade and continuing through the ninth grade of elementary school. This shift aims to return the sacrament to the final year of primary education. A transitional period is expected during the 2026/2027 pastoral year to accommodate both the new program and the existing practice.
