Iron deficiency and thyroid function linked to female chronic fatigue

Chronic fatigue in women is frequently linked to two primary physiological factors: iron deficiency and thyroid dysfunction. Women are structurally more susceptible to iron depletion due to menstruation, pregnancy, and breastfeeding. For instance, women of childbearing age have lower iron reserves compared to men, and data indicates a significant portion of women in the United States do not meet their estimated iron requirements.

Thyroid issues, specifically hypothyroidism, also play a major role in energy depletion and affect women more frequently, particularly after age 50. Both conditions can be identified through standard blood tests, which measure iron levels for hemoglobin production and thyroid function to regulate metabolism.
