Iron deficiency symptoms and warning signs
Health specialists have identified several key physical signs that may indicate an iron deficiency in the body. Because symptoms often develop gradually, they can be easily overlooked.
Key indicators include facial changes such as pale, dull skin, dark circles under the eyes, and dryness. These changes are often linked to lower hemoglobin levels, which affect blood color. Other significant symptoms include fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and feeling unusually exhausted during daily tasks.
Physical exertion may also trigger shortness of breath or heart palpitations, as insufficient iron can prevent blood from carrying enough oxygen to the muscles. Additionally, iron deficiency is linked to headaches, migraines, and hair issues such as thinning or increased hair loss due to reduced oxygen reaching the hair roots.
