Iron Maiden and Z2 announce Somewhere in Time 40th anniversary graphic novel

Heavy metal band Iron Maiden and publisher Z2 have announced the release of Somewhere in Time: The Graphic Album to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band's 1986 album. Scheduled for publication on March 2, 2027, the project is a graphic album consisting of a graphic novel and a specialty vinyl reissue.

The book features eight chapters inspired by the album's tracks, along with a prologue and epilogue written by Kelly Sue DeConnick and illustrated by Andy MacDonald. The narrative explores the events preceding the iconic cover art originally illustrated by Derek Riggs.

Guitarist Adrian Smith commented on the new renditions of the band's mascot, Eddie, noting the character's power and menace. The release also includes an in-depth interview with Smith regarding the recording of the original album. Various editions will be available, including a signed platinum edition featuring 7 inch vinyl singles of Wasted Years and Stranger in a Strange Land.
