Irsee Abbey to host organ vesper featuring ‘La Monica’

Organist Tobias Lindner will perform an organ vesper at Irsee Abbey on October 10, 2026. The program focuses on ‘La Monica’, an Italian folk melody originating from a 1465 Sienese song about a girl’s plea not to become a nun.

The performance will feature musical variations of the melody by composers including Johann Sebastian Bach, Dietrich Buxtehude, Girolamo Frescobaldi, and William Byrd. The event will highlight the historic Balthasar Freiweiß organ, built around 1754.

Admission to the event is free, though donations are accepted to support the maintenance of the organ and cover event costs.
