Irtra opens Xetulhá water park in Retalhuleu, Guatemala

The Instituto de Recreación de los Trabajadores de la Empresa Privada de Guatemala (IRTRA) inaugurated the Xetulhá water park in Retalhuleu on 30 July 2026. The opening ceremony was attended by President Bernardo Arévalo, IRTRA board president Ricardo Castillo Sinibaldi, Inguat director Harris Whitbeck and Economy Minister Gabriela García. The $700 million investment created 500 new formal‑sector jobs and expands IRTRA’s workforce to over 6,000 employees. Xetulhá features 40 modern slides, themed pools, restaurants and cabins, and can accommodate up to 10,000 visitors daily.

For visitors, IRTRA members enter free but must purchase an unlimited‑access bracelet for Q80 to use the water attractions. Non‑members buy a multipark ticket covering both Xetulhá and the adjacent Xocomil park: Q175 for adults and Q90 for children or seniors. Additional fees apply for adults adding Xetulhá after entering Xcomil (Q100) or for children/seniors (Q50). The park opened to the public on 31 July 2026.
