Peru advances energy infrastructure with rural and transmission projects

Peru is advancing its energy infrastructure through significant investments in both rural electrification and power transmission. The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), via the General Directorate of Rural Electrification, has completed 10 projects between January and August 2026. These projects, totaling over S/ 161 million, have provided electricity to 535 localities across seven regions, including Amazonas, Áncash, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Junín, Moquegua, and Puno, benefiting 36,396 residents.

In parallel, the country is modernizing its transmission network. Four projects under the 2025-2034 Transmission Plan have been awarded, representing an investment of approximately US$339 million. These are part of a broader portfolio of 18 planned transmission projects for 2026, estimated at US$950 million, to be developed through public-private partnerships (APP).
