Paul Magnier wins Clásica de Hamburgo as Isaac del Toro battles setbacks

French cyclist Paul Magnier of Soudal-Quick Step won the 2026 Clásica de Hamburgo, securing his seventh victory of the season after a sprint finish. He completed the 205.3-kilometer course in 4:17:55, followed by Mike Teunissen in second and Laurence Pithie in third.

Mexican rider Isaac del Toro, representing UAE Team Emirates, experienced a turbulent return to competition following his podium finish at the Tour de France. Del Toro faced multiple setbacks, including a crash approximately 100 kilometers from the finish and a mechanical issue that forced a bicycle change with roughly 72 kilometers remaining.

Despite these challenges, Del Toro mounted a significant attack with 15 kilometers left in the race, briefly taking the lead and splitting the peloton. However, a lack of support from his teammates in the final stages prevented him from maintaining the advantage. He ultimately finished in 43rd place, six seconds behind Magnier.
