Isaac del Toro wins Grand Prix de Montréal, setting age record

Mexican cyclist Isaac del Toro won the Grand Prix de Montréal, setting a new record as the youngest rider to win the competition. At 22 years and 290 days old, Del Toro surpassed the previous record held by Peter Sagan, who won the race in 2013 at age 23 and 232 days.

Competing for UAE Team Emirates-XRG, Del Toro secured the victory after a late-race breakaway with Frenchman Paul Seixas. Following an attack by Seixas near the end of the 214.4-kilometer course, Del Toro neutralized the move and out-sprinted Seixas in the final 300 meters at Mount Royal Park.

This win marks Del Toro’s 33rd professional victory and his 12th of the 2026 season. It is also his first career victory in a one-day race. The win comes ahead of the Road World Cycling Championships, which are scheduled to take place at the same location on September 27.
