Isaac del Toro leads early stages of Tour of Germany

Mexican cyclist Isaac del Toro, representing UAE Team Emirates, has made a strong start at the 2026 Tour of Germany. Del Toro won the opening 2.6-kilometer individual time trial (prologue) in Bad Orb with a time of 3:08, narrowly defeating France's Paul Magnier by two seconds to take the overall leader's blue jersey and the youth classification lead.

In the first full stage, a 215.3-kilometer route from Bad Orb to Schwäbisch Hall, Louis Barré of Visma-Lease a Bike secured the stage victory and took the overall lead. Del Toro finished second in the stage, 16 seconds behind Barré, which placed him second in the general classification, trailing the leader by nine seconds. Despite losing the overall lead, Del Toro remains a top contender and continues to lead the youth classification.

The competition features other notable riders, including Giulio Ciccone, who sits third in the general classification. The upcoming stages will test the endurance and climbing abilities of the peloton as the race moves toward Offenbach an der Queich.
